Most people’s experience with cancer begins at the moment of diagnosis, but for me, this moment - the ‘fluid puppy’ experience in the hospital - was where I really and fully realized what ovarian cancer was, and how hard it was going to be to face it, for my mom and all of us.
So it seemed like an appropriate starting point for this podcast, to begin at the moment of peak fear, but also a sudden and clear-eyed realization of the nature of this disease. ‘What is this thing?’ was a question I asked and attempted to answer as we started to look directly and closely at ovarian cancer.
